Change In Systems With Player Levels
As player level increases, need of a complicated system also increases. But to have a well designed good bidding system, one should establish a long term partnership. You will practice and learn a system with your partner. Otherwise the system you yourself know has no benefit to you.

Players that have no high competitive interest, play popular, standard systems. Advanced players need more sophisticated systems armed with lots of conventions. Expert players need systems with relays and step responses. Top level players should have artificial systems.

Structure Of A Well Designed System
A well designed system should have wide range of sequences to contain 90% of the distributions. Natural, standard systems have a list of bids. Meanings of bids are predetermined and listed. For example, bidding is: 1c -1d and meanings of opener's rebids are listed from 1h to 4NT. Lets say 3s means; short in s, 4cd fit and 19-21 points. Now this bid is reserved for a meaning. You can't use it for other meanings. You should wait for a hand short in s, 4c fit and 19-21 points to bid 3s. This is not good. Instead, a well designed system should have step responses. With in 5 to 7 steps you may describe your distribution. One of the steps may have multi meaning like: short in a side suit and responder may ask bidding the first step for which and with step responses you will show your short suit, like:step1:Short in the higher ranking suit or step2:Short in the lower. So, the system will not have idle meanings. A step response (artificial) system can only be played by long term expert partnerships.

Please note that, a system contains relays and step responses should considered to be an artificial system and needs to be played by long term partnerships and experienced players.
